How it works

The Black Mountain Food Hub works like an online farmers market where local customers can buy direct from local farmers, growers and food producers through our online shop.

For Customers

Customers can log on to the site, browse a range of fresh local produce and add any items they like to their online shopping basket. Whilst browsing, you can view the details about the producer, the product and where it comes from.

When you’ve finished shopping, you can place your order, choose a payment method and a collection or a local delivery option to your home or place of work.

Customers can order online anytime in our order cycle that opens Wednesday morning up until Tuesday Midnight for their shopping to be ready for the coming Friday or Saturday

For your convenience, we also stock a range of organic ethically sourced store cupboard provisions, so that you have the choice to buy you full weekly food shop with us. We source these products from a Worker Co-operative called Essential – Trading Ltd.

For Producers

Local producers can sign up with us, add their products to our online catalogue, and set the level of stock and price they want to sell them for.

Each producer can have a profile page on our site, where customers can learn more about you and how your food was grown, reared or made. We only take a 15% fee to cover our costs, such as promoting your produce, administration, customer service, packing and delivery.

Every Wednesday by 10am, we send you an email with the customer orders to give you time to pick, pack or bake for delivery of your produce to the Llandeilo Station Hub on Friday morning between 9 and 11am. We then pack the individual boxes for each of your customers ready for collection or delivery.

Because our local fresh produce is picked, packed and baked to order this prevents food waste often a problem in conventional stores.
